The Astrodome Memories team participated in the Astrodome's 50th Anniversary event on April 9, 2015. The event was organized by Harris County Judge Ed Emmett, Preservation Houston and the National Trust for Historic Preservation to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Harris County Domed Stadium, better known as the Astrodome.
Here are a few of our pictures from the event:

People bringing their images to be scanned to the Astrodome Memories booth.
Part of the fun was hearing the stories that went with the items -- in this case, the story about the original Astrodome scoreboard animations.
Ed Henderson brought in some original animation cells and a picture of him working with animations on an early computer.
Items we scanned and photographed at the event can be browsed at http://omeka.astrodomememories.org/items/browse?tag=50th+Anniversary+Event. Thank you to everyone who shared their memories!
If you didn't make the event and would like to share your own memories, be sure to check out our upcoming events! For more stories and images from the 50th Anniversary Party, check out #Dome50 on Twitter.
