Born in 1898 in Houston. After his early education in Houston, he entered Princeton University in 1915. During that time he enlisted in Naval reserve when World War I was delared in 1917. In 1918 he was on active duty at Nantucket. he returned to Princeton in 1919 when he became inactive from naval duty. From there he returned to Texas to be enrolled in Law School. In 1920, he entered the family banking business-the First National Bank.He wrote a book on the history and development of the Bank in 1974. During WWII, he was again commissioned to work at the 8th Naval District in New Orleans from 1942-44. In June 1945, he was made the Director of Welfare of the 8th Naval District.
